“The origin of species” with a twist

I’ve discovered this great project a couple of days ago and saved it for this week.

It is an artist’s take (Simon Phillipson to be precise) on  Charles Darwin’s “The Origin of Species1902 edition. What is unique about it is that “in the soft-bound 420+ page book you only see the punctuation marks, words, sentences and paragraphs that has been lost or edited over the last 154 years.” This is a true embodiment of the essence of this book:  “an evolutionary edition” of a book on evolution  🙂

The idea allows a fascinating journey through the history of the text (while roaming through the pages you get to see  “only the words and sentences that have disappeared or been altered over the years.”)
